Will I (Or Someone Else) Feel My Lip Fillers?

Lip fillers are one of the most popular non-surgical cosmetic procedures performed in the United States. Plump, full lips are one of the hottest beauty standards of the 21st century and are desired by patients of demographics. However, patients often have concerns about the feel of their lips following filler injections. Let’s look at the frequently asked question, “Will I (or someone else) feel my lip fillers?”

For about two weeks or so following the injections, the filler will be more noticeable and you may be able to feel it. This is because it takes roughly that long for the fillers to totally heal and settle. Patients typically become used to their filler fairly quickly and after this initial period barely notice their filler.

As far as if others, such as partners, could feel the filler, it largely depends on the type of filler and how much. Hyaluronic acid fillers are made of a soft, malleable gel that feels natural and mimics the natural feel of the lips. Some thicker fillers though may cause the lips to feel slightly firmer. Additionally, if you have a particularly large amount of filler, this likely will be noticeable. Generally, though, it is not obvious to others you have fillers based on the feel of your lips alone.
