What’s The Difference Between A Lower Body Lift & Tummy Tuck?

A lower body lift and tummy tuck are both skin removal surgeries and are often performed after major weight loss. However, they are recommended in slightly different situations. Though a patient who is a good candidate would be a candidate for a tummy tuck, it just will likely not provide the optimal results. Let’s answer the question, “What’s the difference between a lower body lift and a tummy tuck?”

The simplest way to describe the difference between a lower body lift and tummy tuck is that a lower body lift is essentially a much more extensive version of a tummy tuck. Instead of the incision ending at each hip, the incision curves around the back. In some cases, it may completely circumvent the body, while other times the two ends may not quite meet.

This incision allows Dr. Sessa to address extra skin along the flanks and back as well instead of just focusing on the stomach. Of course, if a patient does not want a lower body lift, they will see some benefit from a traditional tummy tuck, but it will not address extra skin on the back.
