Sculptra Before & After
Consultation
At your consultation, your provider will start by getting an understanding of your goals and concerns. They may then ask about your medical history and aspects of your lifestyle. This is because it may impact the treatment or recommended procedure. Following this discussion, your provider will perform a brief examination of the treatment area.
At this point, your provider will determine if you are a good candidate for Sculptra injections in Sarasota. If you are, they will describe the results you can expect and the specifics of the treatment. Consequently, if you are not, they will recommend another course of action. This may include procedures such as hyaluronic acid fillers or a facelift.
Before leaving the Sarasota Surgical Arts office, you will be given a customized treatment plan and a finalized price quote. Occasionally, you may undergo treatment on the same day. Otherwise, you can schedule your Sculptra injections in Sarasota.
Injections
Sculptra injections are generally performed in three separate injection sessions spaced a few weeks apart. Though, the number of sessions and length of time between them can vary based on your needs. Your provider will discuss this with you before your first treatment.
The first step of administering your Sculptra injections is to clean and disinfect the treatment areas. This is usually done with alcohol. Your provider may then apply a topical anesthetic such as numbing cream to make the injections less painful. After letting it sit for ten to twenty minutes, your provider will proceed with the injections.
The average amount of Sculptra used during one session is around one-half to one full syringe. Since the Sculptra is primarily filling the area with new collagen, less of the product is used upfront (at least in comparison to other fillers). After injecting an area, your provider may gently massage it. This helps prevent bruising and allows the filler to settle nicely.
Depending on the treated areas, Sculptra may be placed above the periosteum (just above the bone) or subcutaneously (just below the skin). When placed in areas such as the temples and other areas that are naturally bony, the periosteum approach is more likely. In areas with more fatty tissue, the subcutaneous placement will likely be favored.
Aftercare
Immediately following your Sculptra injections, you will likely see some added volume. This is due to the water and anesthetics used to constitute the product. This will recede over the next couple of days. However, the injections stimulate collagen production which gradually adds volume to the targeted area. This is why–like similar collagen induction techniques–requires multiple treatment sessions for the best and longest lasting results.
As far as aftercare, your instructions will depend on the treatment areas. Though, patients can expect instructions such as:
- Massage the treatment areas for around five days following injections
- Temporarily stop Aspirin, ibuprofen, blood thinners, and other medications and supplements that thin the blood before and after treatment
- Do not be discouraged when initial results deflate
- Limit exercise for the first day or so
- Avoid hot environments, sun exposure, or anything that may raise your body temperature
