Recovery After An Arm Lift
An arm lift surgery is a skin removal surgery that trims away the skin that hangs down from the upper arms. The extent of the surgery will depend on the extent and severity of the excess skin. Since it involves two linear incisions down each arm, it does come with recovery afterward. Here’s what to expect from recovery after an arm lift.
Arm lift surgery is performed under general anesthesia. Therefore, you will likely feel groggy afterward and may experience some side effects of the anesthesia such as nausea and vomiting. This should pass within a day, if not the same day as surgery. Once the anesthesia wears off, you may then experience some post-operative pain, swelling, itchiness, redness, bruising, and general discomfort. Major side effects generally subside in one to two weeks.
To heal more comfortably and better, Dr. Sessa will give you recovery instructions. This may include no strenuous exercise for several weeks, taking antibiotics, not submerging your arms in water, and attending post-operative appointments. Based on your individual surgery and medical history, he may have more individualized instructions.
Patients usually return to work within five to fourteen days of their arm lift. To learn more, call us at 941-923-1736. You can also reach out online via Price Simulator, chat, or contact form.
