How Much Weight Do You Lose With A Body Lift?

A body lift–sometimes called a lower body lift–is one of the most transformative plastic surgery procedures. It most commonly removes extra skin from the lower body that is the result of major weight loss. Even with weight loss, extra skin, especially if in large amounts, can hold a significant amount of weight. Patients often want to know, “How much weight do you lose with a body lift?”

Without examining a patient, it is hard to quantify a number. For some patients, the extra skin removed with a lower body lift may only come out to be a few pounds while other patients could have ten or twenty pounds of skin removed. Generally, though, these larger amounts are seen in patients who have other surgeries combined with their lower body lift such as a thigh lift or arm lift.

Sometimes, Dr. Sessa may also remove fat via liposuction during a lower body lift. This usually does not amount to more than five or ten pounds. The main difference seen after a lower body lift is that patients often go down a couple of, if not several, clothing sizes. This is often the most dramatic part of a body lift.
