Can You Weight Train With Breast Implants?

Naturally petite and fit women tend to have less fat on their bodies. This often correlates to smaller breasts, sometimes that may not even match their body type. Other factors such as childbirth and age can change the volume of the breasts. Women who work out or lift, or want to begin doing so, are one of the top demographics or seek breast implants for this reason. So, can you weight train with breast implants?

The answer is yes. Once you fully recover, you can begin or continue weight training or bodybuilding. However, you will need to cease lifting anything over five to ten pounds for about four to six weeks during your recovery, or until Dr. Sessa instructs otherwise. This is because your incisions can be torn open which can prolong the healing process and put you at risk for various complications.

Otherwise, weight training after your recovery should not negatively affect your breast implants in any way. Occasionally, those who weight lift competitively may notice that breast implants placed below the muscles can distort the look of their breasts when lifting. While this generally is not too noticeable, it can be bothersome. In some cases, placing the implants above the muscle for these patients may be appropriate.

Though, patients should discuss their options with Dr. Sessa during a consultation. To learn more and schedule a consultation, call us at 941-923-1736. You can also reach out online via Price Simulator, chat, or contact form.
