Can You Do Breast Lift And Implants Together?

Many patients who want a breast augmentation have experienced volume loss due to aging, weight loss, pregnancy, and nursing. This resulting volume loss can sometimes cause breast sagging. Unless the sagging is especially mild, breast implants alone cannot address sagging breasts. Therefore, many of these patients will benefit and see the best results from a breast lift. Not wanting to do two separate surgeries, patients sometimes ask, “Can you do breast lift and implants together?”

The answer is usually yes. It is fairly common and not surgically complicated to combine breast augmentation and breast lift together. Breast implants can be placed through the breast lift incisions and the breast lift can be catered to fit the breast’s new proportions with implants.

The only time the two cannot be combined is if the patient is not a candidate for one or both procedures, or has a medical history that would make the longer surgery too risky. If a condition is well managed and you are a candidate for each of the procedures individually, you can likely undergo the combined procedure. Occasionally, Dr. Sessa may recommend splitting the procedures into different surgical sessions, but this is fairly rare.
