LIPOSUCTION vs. TUMMY TUCK

When determining the best procedure to take care of the belly, the two frequently considered are liposuction and a tummy tuck. Both can dramatically improve the contours of the abdomen and achieve a flat stomach. However, the two surgeries treat different causes of a protruding belly.

Liposuction only addresses extra fat. Some forms of liposuction such as laser liposuction can promote skin tightening. BEFORE AND AFTER 360 LIPOSUCTION

Consultation

Preparation

Surgery

For surgery, a licensed anesthesia provider will place you under general anesthesia. Depending on the specifics of your procedure, Dr. Sessa may use a laser or tumescent fluid to break up the fat. This makes the process easier and more effective.

Dr. Sessa will then make a small incision for the liposuction cannula. The incisions are tiny and hidden in the natural creases of the body, and often where undergarments normally cover. Inserting the liposuction cannula, he will gently move it back and forth to remove the fat. He will repeat this for each treatment area around the body. Once finished, Dr. Sessa will stitch the incisions carefully.

Recovery

When you wake up from surgery, you may notice a difference in the contours of your body. In the next few days, this may become distorted by swelling and bruising. Dr. Sessa may provide a compression garment to promote good results, reduce swelling, and keep you more comfortable. You will need to wear this constantly at first and will slowly reduce how much you wear it throughout recovery.
